Full Description
A rectilinear earthwork feature is visible in Whitehill Wood in aerial photos of 1946. It appears to be square or trapezoidal, c.70m x c. 60m. The southern boundary possibly extends further to the west.
In 2013 an excavation was a carried out in Whitehill Wood. As part of this work a brief walkover survey was undertaken of the area. An earthwork bank and ditch was found on the west side of a sunken bridleway. The bank stood less than 1m high and the ditch was prominent. The southern bank was followed until it reached the clearing for the pylons on the west. The eastern bank was followed along the bridleway until it turned west, at which point it could not be located in the undergrowth.
