Full Description
In 2000/1 the Oxford Archaeological Unit carried out a targeted watching brief (a strip, map and sample excavation) ahead of CTRL works. A small cremation cemetery was found east of the Middle Iron Age enclosed farmstead. A total of six cremations were buried, three in urns (two of which were in one grave) and three unurned. The urned cremations were accompanied by other vessels as grave goods and one burial possibly also had a pair of tweezers. The cemetery was located close to the entrance of the farmstead, suggesting the site was still identifiable in early Roman period when the cremations are thought to date from. (1-2)
