Full Description
Workshop No. 1 was built in 1910/11 as part of Woodnesborough Colliery. It is a large, single-storey, rectangular building of eleven bays measuring 41.46m in length and 8.66m in width. It is constructed from red brick and Portland cement in Flemish bond with a pitched, slate-clad roof above pierced by chimneys at the north-west end indicating the position of internal offices. The exterior walls feature recessed brick panels with external pilasters. Workshop No. 1 comprises one of the earliest buildings on the Site which would have functioned as workshops and offices to serve the nascent Woodnesborough colliery. (1)
