Full Description
Workshop No. 1 was built in 1910/11 as part of Woodnesborough Colliery. It is a large, single-storey, rectangular building of eleven bays measuring 41.2m in length and 9.9m in width. It is constructed from red brick and Portland cement in Flemish bond with pitched, slate-clad roof above featuring a central raised ventilation section containing louvered timber walls. Workshop No. 2 comprises one of the earliest buildings on the site which was probably constructed as an engine shed to service steam engines working at the colliery. From the 1950s it was probably used to service the delivery lorries. (1)
