Building record TR 34 SW 1091 - Tower 1 and hardened building, post-war part of former Swingate Chain Home Radar Station
Summary
The tower is believed to have been constructed in the late 1950s following the c1955 demolition of the original Second World War Group III tower (part of the Swingate Second World War Radar station) although it has not been possible to confirm this. However, it is highly likely that the tower was re-built at the same time as the hardened compound, all part of the early Cold War modifications and use of the site in the 1950s. A modern pyramidal base mat has been added to the tower.
