Full Description
Golf Rd pumping station built 1910 by Deal Corporation to pump excess water from storm drains into the sea. Pumping station is a simple one storey building with water tower (now without tank) at one corner. Originally held diesel engines but plant chnged in 1930s. Some plant from that period still retained but pumps modern and continuous chain screens removed. Workshop range added along one side in 1930s. Workshop shed to rear of pump house and 2 storey attendent's house at front. Covered reservoir added on N side of site in 1920s and observer's post added to top in WW2. Concrete platform of post remains with later ornamental brick balustrade. Pumping Station disused in 1995, may be demolished soon after. (1)
