In 1840 the licence of this inn was tranferred to James Nicholson from Petham, Farmer. Seven years later the directory names Thomas Filner as the Inn keeper and a year later John Henry Roberts.

In 1867 the directory names Henry Stone as innkeeper and a year later it was William Earl. There were so many inns in the vicinity of Ivy Lane and Love Lane that some innkeepers obviously found it difficult to stay very long in one inn. The inn is clearly shown on the 1st edition OS map of 1874.

The Red Lion closed in 1906. It is now a private residence called "The Old Red Lion".
