Two Palaeolithic handaxes from general Maypole area, Hoath, but without more precise provenance. Seen by Roe (1) in Herne Bay Museum, then included in Southern Rivers Project (2, 3). Possibly from the two pits recorded by Bowes (4) at NGR 620450 165250, a little to the north of Maypole, although there is at least one other old pit nearer Maypole at NGR 619970 164195 (shown in 1938 OS mapping).
