Full Description

Sittingbourne, 6 West Ridge - surface find of flint Long Blade debitage (final Upper Palaeolithic). Found in topsoil in front garden, artefact is a large, broad blade c 11cm long x 5cm wide. It is patchily blue/white-patinated on the ventral surface and also stained reddish-brown in places. It is slightly abraded all around , but more developed battering on the main straight side-edge suggests damage typical of a "bruised blade", typical of the final Upper Palaeolithic Long Blade industry.
