Full Description
The Canterbury UAD states that this is a Fremlins/Shepherd Neame.
Little is know of the history of this inn in Nunnery Fields. The building was probably once used as a bakehouse. The earliest reference found was when William Coppen was listed as the innkeeper in 1882 and he still held the licence in 1888.
In 1889 a Canterbury Directory listed Edwin Coppen living at 25, Nunnery Fields as a beer retailer; he was still there in that capacity in 1902. Other Directory entries mention The Two Doves in 1904 and again in 1911 with George Perry as innkeeper.
