Full Description

The Canterbury UAD states that very little is known about the Bricklayers Arms. The first reference in records found of the inn by name was in 1838 and it continued to be recorded by this name until at least 1867 if not later. Some of its known innkeepers are: 1838 John Harris; 1846 Robert Wilkinson; 1848 John Fish; 1849 George Hills; 1855 J. Norley; 1861 John Hilton; 1862 William Warner.

However, the Directory for 1882 showed that it had previously changed its name to the British Oak. In 1882 William Parker is listed as innkeeper and in 1888 Mrs George. The licence closed for good in 1931.
