Full Description
The Canterbury UAD states that the Victoria Inn did not appear on the Licensing List of 1848, and the record found for a licence was in 1862. Later the Victoria Inn was renamed and became the Castle Hotel.
It is listed as the Castle Hotel in the Kelly's Directory of 1931 with E. H. Leavers as proprieter and was listed in the Kelly's Directory of 1961 as the Castle Hotel. Sometime shortly after however, it must have closed down and was demolished, along with many other properties in the vicinity, ahead of the construction of the new ring-road scheme.
