Summary

The Railway Call inn was first mentioned in the Kent Herald Newspaper in 1844 when James Riches applied for a license and an adjounment was made for fourteen days. The inn was believed to have closed down in 1903.

Full Description

The Canterbury UAD states that The Railway Call was mentioned in the Kent Herald Newspaper in 1844 when James Riches applied for a license and an adjounment was made for fourteen days. It is assumed that the license was granted as in the Licensing List for 1846, William Gutsole the younger is recorded as licensee. In 1848 the inns name was changed to The Woolpack which denoted a local wool industry. The inn was kept by John James Thomas and in 1862 by Francis Stroud. It is believed to have closed down in 1903.
