The Canterbury UAD states that the St. Dunstan's Brewery with maltings was founded to the south-east of Roper House on the north side of St. Dunstan's Street in 1797. It traded as Flint and Kingsford up until the 1860's. It became registered as Flint & Sons before 1882 as shown in Stevens Directory of 1882.

In 1923 it was acquired by Alfred Leney & Co, of Dover. Brewing ceased in 1929 and the buildings were partially demolished, though some were reused. The main brewery building stood in St. Dunstan's Street, with an entrance through to a yard with two ranges of buildings behind. Within the complex were two maltings, one north of the brewery with a malt kiln attached and one to the north-east of Roper Road. The latter was in more recent years used as a furniture store.
