Full Description

The Canterbury UAD states that the exact location of Saunder's Brewery is not known at present. The earliest evidence found for it appears in Pigot's Directory of 1840 where Francis Saunder's Brewer is listed in North Lane.

It could have only had a short life. It is not listed in the earlier Pigot's Directory of 1832-34 and there is no obvious evidence for a brewery in North Lane/St. Stephen's Road area on the 1st edition O. S. map of 1874, nor is there any listings in later Directories i.e: The Canterbury Directory for 1878 and Steven's Directory for 1882. Thus its life span appears to have been between 1840's and the 1860's.

The position shown on the map info plot is purely conjectural as is its size of which nothing is presently known.
