Full Description

An implement of banded grey flint,a product fo Acheulian industry, of the same interglacial period as an ovate from Rossington, Yorks., which was exhibited by Mr. N. Smedley at the Society's meeting of 10th Feb. 1944; was noted by the late Mr. Wm. Newton as having been found in the 100 ft. terrace gravels of the Thames at Dartford. The implement, which is in the possession of the writer, is 4" by 3 1/8" by 7/8" and like the Rossington ovate, is manufactured in a naturally holed lump. Bold flaking has given the tool an unbroken sinuous cutting edge. (1)
