Monument record TR 15 NE 1317 - The Kitchen, St. Augustine's Abbey

Summary

Beyond the Refectory, to the north, was a freestanding hexangonal shaped kitchen, about 50 feet in diameter, with six large buttresses at the angles. It was built, along with the outer stone court, in between 1287 and 1291 during the abbacy of Abbot Fyndon, and probably replaced an earlier kitchen, built on the site by Abbot Hugh I of Fleury in c. 1099-1124.
