Full Description
Post hole found on land at Hempstead Farm, Hempstead Lane, Tonge, Sittingbourne. During an evaluation on the land in advance of agricultural development, Canterbury Archaeology Trust were commissioned by G. H Dean and Co Ltd to excavated two trial trenches between 18/06/2014 and 20/06/2014.
The post hole was circular, measuring 0.15m diameter, was observed cutting the natural at the south east end of trench 2. It was filled with silty clay with modern inclusions and almost certainly was cut from higher up and relates to modern activity. (1)
