Full Description
During the East Kent Access Route excavations (2009-2011) a prehistoric palisade was discovered that dated from some time between the early bronze age and middle iron age.
The palisade entered the zone (zone 13) from the north-east, ran south-west and then continued around the eastern side of a ring-ditch before heading south-east and finally again turning to the south-west. The palisade consisted of a ditch with posts placed in it. It could not be securely dated but it respected the early bronze age ring-ditch and was cut by a middle iron age trapezoidal enclosure. (1)
