Full Description
A rectangular shaped building, about 28 feet by 20 feet in size, is shown on the 1990 O.S. Map of Roman and Medieval Canterbury, located about 40 feet to the north of the Guest Hall, its function and exact dimesions are presently uncertain. However on a three dimesional plan dated 1595 this structure and the adjacent similar structure appear as two single storied buildings either side of a central stone built gateway, about 20 feet wide, fronting a bridge over the river, and must therefore have been a gatehouse with accommodation for the gatekeeper and or guests.
