Full Description

Quote from archaeological survey: "Northwest pigsties used as dog-kennels. C.1880s. Yellow brick, with some secondary rendering, the yard walls with blue glazed bull-nose brick coping; gabled slate roof, the slates nailed onto the starking boards, some replacement with corrugated iron. The stys are the northwest group of 2 sets of stys. These are sited at right angles to the working horse stable and dung-pit, roofed on a northwest-southeast axis. They are arranged back-to-back, 4 stys on the northeast side (2 double stys in centre), 6 on the southwest, each sty with a small run in front, some orginal iron gates, the stys with round-headed doorways. Some stys retain remnants of concrete throughs. Brick-lined drain in front of runs." (1)
