Reference from archaeological survey: "10-bay probable slaughterhouse range (information from the owner) or maybe dairy?) with other functions: heated rooms possibly for pig-scalding/mash room and stock buildings, including possible covered yard. C.1880s. Flemish bond yellow brick with red brick bands and dressings; corrugated asbestos roof, hipped at northeast end, gabled (probably rebuilt) at southwest end. Corbelled brick saves cornice. Stack with shaft with corbelled brick cap. Sited parallel to building, site between the haystore and dung-pit. Multi-purpose lit and ventilated and divided into 4 cells by brick walls. Original windows segmental -headed with red brick voussoirs; original dooways and corners with bull-nose brick dressings. Northeast section, possibly a covered yard, 5 bays with a secondary doorway in the northeast end wall, flanked by windows. 3 windows to each side of this section, one doorway on dung-pit side. 3-bay central section, either slaughterhouse or dairy, with opposed doorways and 2 windows on each side. The 2 westernmost bays are divided by a brick axial wall. 2 doorways on southwest end with 2 windows section is tiled inside. The southwest end cells are heated by a stack on the crosswell. Tie beam trusses with queen posts, diagonal struts, massive purlins and a ridgeboard." (1)
