Full Description
Reference from Archaeological Survey: "Wheat Barn. 1820-1840 for Richard Collard. Flemish bond yellow brick with stepped kneelers and coping to gable ends; pegtile roof. Barn at wouthwest end of northwest range of farmyard. It faces southeast into yeard. Its rear wall is terraced into the hillside. It is aisled, 4 bays, with rood lifted over tall front doorway in northeast end bay. The 2 front windows, 3 rear windows and north east end window are all 20th century insertions. Southwest end of front is hidden by mash-house alongside granary. Southwest end wall onto road contains an original pedestrian doorway (plain plank door with strap hinges) and upper loading hatch doorway now converted to a window. Unjowled aisle posts and A-frame trusses with clasped purlin arrangement (see sketch section)." (1)
