Full Description

Reference from Archaeological Survey: "Threshing barn. 17th century. Elm weatherboarding on timber frame; some low ragstone footings but most replaced with some red brick; pegtile roof, half-hipped both ends. Barn is built down gentle slope on rough north-south axis. Opposing doorways to threshing floor a little north of centre. Wastern doorway is full-bay wide and full height - it has slots of boards at the bottom. Probably 19th century plank-and-ledge double doors and northern door has two flaps. Smaller doorway immediately to south is now boarded up. West doorway is narrower and lower and now contains 20th century double doors. Wall framing of relatively stout scantling; two tiers with straight tension braces to upper tier (all joints are pegged)." (1)
