Full Description

Reference from Archaeological Survey: "5-bay barn. Built between 1841 and 1874. Timber-framed and weatherboarded; peg tile roof, gabled at ends; later rear outshut with a felt roof. Barn sited end on to the entrance to the farm and associated with a cowhouse at right angles to the southeast. Barn roofed on an approximately west-east axis with a projecting porch on the south side, with a gabled roof with a pendant at the apex, man door in the right cheek, remains of paired external doors (one on the ground). Smaller opposed rear doorway. Loft level doorway in left return. Inside the barn has 4 bolted king post and strut trusses with sharply-jowled wall posts; purlins on clates and skinny diagonal bracing to roof and wall. Minor timbers are pegged. Doorway into cowhouse on right end." (1)
