Full Description
Reference from Archaeological Sirvey: "Brewery, sited S of the farmhouse and adjoining it, built on a NS axis. Although this building seems to have no specialist brewery features the farm has a large malthouse/oast-house and is said to have had an indpendent brewery - bottles with the name of the farm stamped on them have been found on the farm (information from the farmer). Perhaps the building was a bottling plant. Probably late 18th century / early 19th century, a building on this site appearson the 1842 tithe map. Flemish bond brick with blue headers and cogged eaves; peg-tile roof, gabled at ends. W elevation, facing yard tp S of house, has one doorway to the left of a centre, another (converted to a window) to the right and a segmental - headed 3-light casement to the left; first floor blind. Interior has chamfered across beams on the ground floor, first floor not seen on survey. The present owners thate that the farm had an indpendent brewert at one time 9pre 1924) and beer bottles with the farm name stamped on them have been found on the farm." (1)
