Full Description

Very little of Hut 5 was excavated and there was much disturbance. Only a single line of postholes was visible around the south edge and it is unlikely that the hut had undergone reconstruction. Proximity to Hut 1 makes it unlikely to be contemporary. Many small postholes occupied the area between the two. The floor was indistinct, but had dark occupation soil with charcoal fragments filled a scoop in the Roman yellow loam and this yielded a coin of Arcadius and Anglo-Saxon hand made cooking pot sherds. Unlike the other huts this showed no signs of burning.
