Monument record TR 15 NW 1969 - Anglo-Saxon Occupation and Road, Castle Street
Summary
Earliest Saxon evidence was a series of pits cutting Roman levels producing 9th century Saxon pottery. In a trench dug between the Castle Keep and the city wall a late Saxon road was ound overlaying the tail of the roman rampart.
