Full Description
Reference from Archaeological Report: "Cattle house, early 19th century, altered in the early 20th century. Weatherboarded timber framing on red brick stone footings towards east end but rest of front probably secondary on brick footings up to window still level. Cattle house on rough east-west axis backs onto barn and faces south onto stockyard. The 1908 tithe map suggests that it was then open-fronted. Now it has 3 front doorways (one blocked) and a series of 20th century windows. Framing of slender scantling with straight braces to ties beams and raking struts to the purlins. At the west end there is a corridor through a lean-to on the end of the barn to the west drive. The priginal purpose of the room at this end is unclear. The building is shown on the 1944 tithe map but it has been much rebuilt in the 20th century." (1)
