Summary
A Roman wall foundation was observed by Pilbrow in 1868 during the installation of a new sewer in Hosptial Lane. Pilbrow states, "In Hospital Lane, at 70 feet from the top, a foundation of rubble and flints and strong thick concrete 4 feet wide..." Pilbrow 1868.
