Full Description
Reference from archaeological survey: "8-bay barn. Early 19th century (pre 1840). Timber-framed and weatherboarded on Flemish bond brick footings; pegtile roof, half hipped at ends. The barn is roofed on a northwest - southeast axis qand fronts east onto the farm track. The barn appears to have been multi-purpose from the outset. The 2 bays at either end have what appear to be original lofts, and are partitioned off from the centre of 4 bays, the partitions with brick footings. The ground floor of the right end is still used for livestock (pigs), the left end bays are used for corn storage on the ground floor but may originally have housed stock. The midstrey is in the 3rd bay from the left with full-height doorway on the east side and an opposed main door. The full height doorway is strenthened in its upper corners by iron brackets..." (1)
