Summary

Two Roman earthenware vessels, one inscribed MANSVETUS, accompanying a female inhumation, were found in gravel in a watercourse on the south side of Heath Lane, Dartford, about mid-way between Highfield Road and the Heath.

Full Description

[Area TQ 530732] Two Roman earthenware vessels, one inscribed MANSVETUS, accompanying a female inhumation, were found in gravel in a watercourse on the S side of Heath Lane, Dartford, about mid-way between Highfield Road and the Heath (a). (The date and circumstances of discovery have not been recorded) The inscribed vessel was loaned out in 1948, but was not returned and is now lost (b). The other may be in store in Dartford Museum, among objects of unknown provenance, but could not be traced. (1)
