Building record TQ 45 SW 225 - Wagon Lodge at Goodley Stock

Summary

Built mid 19th century, the result of more than one building phase. Different builds show in buttressed brick wall to rear; south end is timber framed and gable-ended roof is pegtile (laid with spaces to create a ventilated effect). The building has 15 bays with an open front supported by a series of timber posts on a stone pad. Altered in the 20th century.

Full Description

Reference from archaeological report: "Wagon lodge. Probably mid 19th century, but result of more than one building phase. Different builds show in buttressed brick wall to rear; south end is timber framed and gable-ended roof is pegtile (laid with spaces to create a ventilated effect). Low narrow range on more north-south than northwest-southeast axis. It backs onto the road and originally open-fronted to a yard to east. Several 20th century alterations including various internal partitions and blockings of brick and concrete blockwork…" (1)
