Building record TQ 45 SW 226 - Cattleshed at Goodley Stock

Summary

Cattleshed built mid 19th century. Flemish bond red brick (southeast end rebuilt in concrete blockwork); hipped corrugated asbestos roof (probably replacing pegtile). 5-bay open front with narrower central bay, opposite rear doorway. The only easily recognisable building from the southwest stockyard development of the mid 19th century.

Full Description

Reference from archaeological survey: "Cattleshed. Probably mid 19th century. Flemish bond red brick 9southeast end rebuild in concrete blockwork); hipped corrugated asbestos roof (probably replacing pegtile). Cattleshed on a northwest-southeast axis facing southwest. 5-bay open front with narrower central bay, opposite rear doorway, carried on plain timber posts on concrete pads. 9-bay roof of tie beam trusses with raking queen struts to collars and clasped purlin construction."
