Summary

Carriage house, sited SW of farmhouse on a WE axis, 1872-1908, at Old Soar Farm A carriage house built between 1872 and 1908. The rear and end walls are stone rubble with some brick, the front has brick piers (probably rebuilt) on either side of double carriage doors with diagonal boarding and strap hinges. The building was used as a garage at the time of survey in the 1990s.This is reputed to have been the entrance for carriages passing south of the main house, and the interior is plastered.

Reference from archaeological survey: " By the latter date it was associated with a yard to its south, it now fronts the track through the farm to the fields to the west. Rear and end walls stone rubble with some brick piers (probably rebuilt) on either side of double carriage doors with diagonal boarding and strap hinges…" (1)
