Full Description

The cutting of a drainage trench during maintenance work on St Augustine's College (now part of King's School) in August, 1981 resulted in the disturbance of two Roman cremation deposits. Four vessels were recovered by one of the maintenance excavators and reported to the Canterbury Archaeological Trust. Subsequent excavation of the drainage trench by the Trust revealed two further intact vessels and three sherds incorporated in the fill of the burial pits.
