Summary
During work on the main drainage system of Canterbury in 1868 The City Engineer, James Pilbrow, observed a possible Roman cremation burial. This was located in an area NW of Northgate and SW of St John's Place. The finds consisted of 'a black urn containing calcined bones, a bottle and saucer'.
