Monument record TR 15 NW 2128 - Roman wall foundation, SW end of King Street

Summary

During work to the main drainage system of Canterbury in 1868 Pilbrow observed a tile and flint foundation beneath the SW end of King Street. This was taken to be the foundation of a Roman wall and cut through dark silt. The tiles were laid two thick at the bottom, and it appeared that the wall had been built upon them.
