Monument record MKE92917 - Roman Tesselated Pavement, Palace Street, Opposite St. Alphege's Church

Summary

During work to the main drainage system of Canterbury the city Engineer, James Pilbrow, observed a tesselated pavement. This was located in Palace Street opposite St Alpheges Church. The pavement was composed of red and white tesserae and was found at a depth of of 2.03m and measured 5.49m in width.
