Monument record TR 15 NE 1541 - Roman Occupation, 20 St. George's Street
Summary
The earliest features were a sleeper beam trench and gravel floor belonging to a Roman building. Several small stakeholes were found cut through the hut floor and the filling of the sleeper trench but their function was not determined. Part of the upper stone of a donkey mill was found in this trench and this presumably came from a baker's shop nearby.
