Monument record TR 15 NE 1557 - Roman Cremation, north end of Palace Street
Summary
During work to the main drainage system of Canterbury in 1867 the city engineer, J. Pilbrow, observed a cremation burial in Palace Street. The cremation was contained with a bronze vase, of cast metal. The vessel was inverted when found and contained calcined bones and was resting on two bars of iron. A small metal lions head was found with the bones.
