Monument record TR 15 NW 2204 - Medieval Westgate Tower and City Wall, Westgate

Summary

Gas trenching south of Westgate Towers in 1982 revealed part of the battered ashlar plinth of the south drum tower and the foundations of the city wall. The fabric of both were contemporary and the wall was seen to be a one period build with the tower and was therefore constructed in about 1380.
