Full Description
Medieval occupation Rear of 15 St Georges Street excavated by the CEC in 1949 (site CXIVQ).
Deep stratification survived, the earliest evidence for medieval activity being occupation deposits dated to the 12th century. In the 14th century the first buildings were erected on the site, with various floors and walls surviving, lying on either side of a contemporary metalled narrow alley. Details of the 14th and 15th century structural history of these properties were recorded, which included walls, floors and burnt layers.
