Summary
Award winning 17th century enclosed and formal gardens with surrounding parkland. The gardens cover 1 1/2 hectares and 200 acres of wooded parkland, in the grounds of a 17th century moated manor house. The gardens extend northwards on rising ground, aligned on the axis of the house and moat. he gardens were laid out during the mid 17th century by Philip Packer and include formal water features which still survive and a walled garden. The topiary gardens were planted between 1830 and 1889 by John Saint. Planting has also taken place during the mid 1990s. The park was probably established during the mid-late 19th century. Modern planting, dating to the 1990s has also taken place.
