Landscape record TQ 73 SW 9 - Bedgebury national pinetum
Summary
Pinetum developed on part of the Bedgebury estate from 1919 and includes a conifer collection planted between 1836-1890. The Forestry Commission in association with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew developed the pinetum from the late 1920s to include a National Pinetum containing the most comprehensive collection of conifers in the temperate world. Planting was by by W Dallimore and W Castle. A collection of dwarf conifers, planted from 1970, has also been established.
