Landscape record TR 13 NW 33 - Sandling park

Summary

Woodland garden, formal gardens and a landscape park to Sandling Park, a country house constructed 1797 but destroyed by bombing in 1942. The landscape park had been laid out by 1820 and extended by 1872. Replanting of trees took place following storm damage of 1987. Planting of the woodland garden, which contains a specialist rhododendron collection, started in 1845 and has been continuously developed and replanted by Major A E Hardy and Captain A Hardy from circa 1919. The formal gardens were designed for Lawrence Hardy by Henry Milner in 1897and were completed by 1909.
