Full Description

Cropmark of possible field system sited to TQ 6821 7205 from good quality air photographs. Unknown date. (1)

The cropmark remains of a probable later prehistoric field system comprising a number of long linear ditches which extend to the north and south of a curving, and possibly contemporary trackway (NMR Monument:765312). The cropmark remains of a 1st Century AD Roman settlement are located within the NE part of the site, but it is not entirely clear from the cropmark envidence whether the field system and trackway were contemporaneous at some point with the Roman settlement. Further fragments of linear ditch extend northwards in the field to the north of the Gravesend Road.

These features were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. (2-5)
