Full Description

[Area TQ 444511] 13th c. wasters have been found in two places respectively on the W. and S. sides of Crockham Hill. The site is a continuation of the Vicar's Haw - Scearn Bank complex (ie. an area of intensive pottery production in the 13th c. centred on Limpsfield, Surrey). Details are as yet, unpublished. (1) A wide search along the Atherfield Clay belt W and S of Crockham Hill and over the Clay-with-Flints area, and numerous local enquiries failed to locate the two sites. (2)
