Vertical Datum: LAT Quality of Depth: SWS Orientation: NS 03-MAR-1961 Oropesa sweep clear at 60ft least echosounder depth 83ft in 93 to 103ft scour 6ft. 24-MAR-1975 Fixed position 50 54 09N 000 59 53E. Wreck cleared at 23m. Fouled at 24.7m. Echosounder depth 24.4m in general depth 31 to 33m. Nil scour by echosounder. Sea bed has 1-2m sand waves. 140ft length from side scan sonar shadow. Bracket between 'shoalest foul' and 'deepest clear' is large (1.7m) And was only realised later. Wreck may therefore be clear to about 24m. Not considered worthwhile to sweep again. 03-AUG-1977 In 50 54 10N 000 59 51E. Ng coords 610740E, 115815N, least echosounder depth 24.3m in general depth 31-32m. Scour 34m. Side scan sonar height 7.9m, Length 70m approx. Lying N/S. 16-SEP-1982 Reported as a submarine with seaplane on its deck, but not confirmed yet. 19-JAN-1983 Located in decca (eng) red c 22.96, Green I 42.24, But not dived. 06-SEP-1983 Dived on 05-AUG-1983 In decca (eng) red c 22.98, Green I 42.25. Old wreck - pre-WWI - and apparently sank following a collision for'd as cut in two - both parts lying close together on even keel. About 170ft long. Cargo appears to be granite chippings of 4 inch mesh size. (1)
