Summary

The lower half of an early 1st c entury AD Roman pot of coarse reddish clay, with grooved and pointed-stick decoration is in Dartford Museum. It was found at Allerloo Nurseries, Oakfield Lane, Wilmington, in 1959, during the digging of a pit for the boiler room of a glasshouse.

Full Description

The lower half of an early 1st c.AD Roman pot of coarse reddish clay, with grooved and pointed-stick decoration is in Dartford Museum. It was found at Allerloo Nurseries, Oakfield Lane, Wilmington, in 1959, during the digging of a pit for the boiler room of a glasshouse. Mr. Robinson, the nursery owner, indicated the site at TQ 53337277, and stated that the pot was found at a depth of about 5 feet in the corner of the pit, which was not enlarged further. (1)
